The Demonic Dragon's Plaything - Chapter 1
Chapter 1 – Nine Immortals Temple
On top of Jiuli Mountains, there temple called the Nine Immortals Temple.
This is because the temple had nine disciples who ascended to become nine great immortals; hence the name Nine Immortals Temple was established.
The Nine Immortals Temple is located on the top of the mountain. The peak is high up in the sky, shrouded in clouds and mist, sometimes appearing, sometimes disappearing, as if it’s a hidden paradise on the mountains.
All the male and female disciples in the temple are cultivators of immortality, including male and female disciples.
Rong Qing is a female inner disciple of the current temple master Daozhen Immortal, ranking fifth.
In addition to her, there is another direct female disciple Rong Ya, ranking third.
At that time, Immortal Daozhen was in seclusion. His eldest disciple and second disciple went down the mountain to wander around, leaving Rong Ya to take over all the matters in the temple for the time being.
However, Rong Ya has always disliked Rong Qing.
To her, Rong Qing is stupid, has shallow intelligence and a weak cultivation base. However, she seemed to have gained the attention of her Eldest senior disciple, who had never given anyone a second glance before.
Rong Ya believes that she is ten times smarter than the fifth junior sister, and even performs better than her on a daily basis. In terms of appearance, she was a beauty who would stand out amongst fishes and beasts and was not inferior to Rong Qing in the slightest.
(t/n: an idiom to mean that she stands out amongst legendary sights – fishes/beasts are usually drawn on ancient Chinese art.)
However, the eldest brother seemed to only have eyes for Rong Qing.
A few days ago, Rong Ya went down the mountain to do conduct some business with her senior brother.
At the market, the eldest brother bought a lustrous and glossy white jade hairpin. Rong Ya heart was agitated with wild excitement, thinking that the eldest brother bought it for her.
She had waited in silent expectations for the longest time, but even when they returned to the mountain, her senior brother never mentioned the hairpin.
Rong Ya thought about it, and guessed that perhaps her Eldest senior brother wanted to give it to her as surprise on her birthday next month.
She decided to not ask about it and wait patiently instead.
Unexpectedly, a few days later, during a morning class, she inadvertently caught a glimpse of Rong Qing sitting next to her. A white and shiny jade hairpin was inserted into the delicate and beautiful bun of the fifth junior sister.
Since Rong Ya had been pining for it for a longest time, she recognized it with just one glance.
That was the pin that Eldest senior brother bought at the market a few days ago.
Her eyes darkened, and her heart felt sour and unpleasant.
How could a stupid female disciple like Rong Qing be worthy of Eldest senior brother who was like an immortal?
Shouldn’t it be that she, who was equally excellent, is a better match for her senior brother?
Rong Ya felt extreme sourness in her heart while her fingers turned white. The pages of the book in her hand were almost crushed.
She secretly remembered this debt, scheming a plan to find an opportunity to teach Rong Qing a lesson someday, so that she would be wiser and stay away from her senior brother.
It just so happens that now, the eldest brother and the second brother have gone down the mountain, and the master is also practicing in seclusion. Who will be able to protect Rong Qing?
Rong Ya curled her lips with her evil plan in mind.
She counted with her fingers, and it seemed that today was Rong Qing’s turn to clean ancestral hall to offer incense to the master ancestors.
The five direct disciples took turns to burn incense for the masters. Each of them took turns once every three days. Today, it happened to be Rong Qing’s turn.
Sure enough, half a quarter of an hour later, morning classes were over. Rong Qing packed up her books and walked straight to the ancestral hall.
Rong Ya used her martial arts to mute her steps, following her silently with light steps.
Upon opening the door of the ancestral hall, there was a dull and oppressive air in the room. Perhaps it was because the doors and windows of the room were usually closed on weekdays and that there was no air circulation that there was this oppressive mood.
Rong Qing glanced at the dozens of tablets above the altar table and stepped forward slowly. She picked up a handful of bamboo incense, lit it with a fire stick, before inserting it into the incense burner on the altar table.
As the smoke curled up, Rong Qing took two more red candles, lit them, and inserted them on the left and right sides of the incense burner.
Then, she cupped her hands, faced the memorial tablet, and bowed forward.
The moment she lowered her head, the burning red candle on the right side of the incense burner suddenly fell over. The open flame met the dry tablecloth and burned instantly.
Rong Ya hid behind the pillar outside the house, moved her fingertips slightly, and cast a fire-stimulating technique. The flames quickly ignited the entire altar table. The flames raged and climbed upwards. Several tablets above were instantly ignited by the fire.
The tip of her nose swelled with the smell of burning wood. Rong Qing looked up and saw the blazing flames in front of her. Her face turned pale with fright, and she immediately shouted in a panic: “It’s on fire. Someone come quickly…”
She pinched her fingers tried to cast a spell using the Water Diversion Technique. She wanted to extinguish the fire, but there was only a small stream of water coming out from her fingertips, incomparable to a child peeing, and not even the tip of the tongue of fire could be affected.
Translator’s Note:
Hello Readers! This is another historical smut novel with a mix of ancient martial arts/immortal cultivation in the plot! There is a plot along with the smut – it follows a thousand year old dragon which has been kept captive against his will and an innocent unassuming disciple who unfortunately fell into his hands. There are some ups and downs, with Mr grumpy dragon learning to be kinder and more human, but it eventually ends pretty sweetly.
