Chapter 1 Part 2 – Born to a Broken Golden Spoon with Debt
***
1 juran is roughly enough money to buy an apple, so the 5 million juran that my brother and I worked like dogs to pay back over the past five years…
“What a waste.”
It was roughly equivalent to the price of an apartment in the most expensive neighborhood in Seoul.
“Sister, I never imagined we would be able to repay that money.”
“Me too.”
“If my sister didn’t have that ability, we would never have been able to repay our debt without it.”
He said lazily, sinking into an armchair in the living room warmed by the fireplace.
“That’s right, if it weren’t for it, we would never have been able to repay our debt………”
Even though I cursed at the system all the time, saying, “This bastard, that bastard,” thanks to it, I was able to pay off a huge amount of debt.
In fact, the debt owed by the Count Sheikh was much more than 5 million jurans.
However, the system said that it is now a tutorial and that if you manage to pay 5 million juran, the remaining debt will be automatically written off.
Moreover, the process of repaying the 5 million coins was also helped and made easier to repay through system quests.
For example, we opened a second-hand market selling family items, collected fallen ripe fruits to make jam and sold them, or went on a journey to pay off small debts.
[SYSTEM | Ding dong~! Eggplant Market~! The quest has arrived. Let’s sell things we don’t use?!]
[SYSTEM | Omg it rained! Let’s buy fallen fruits at a low price and make jam!]
At first, I was skeptical and followed the ridiculously routine quests, but as I did so, I made connections, unexpected events occurred, and these things continued like a butterfly effect, and I was eventually able to repay the money.
“I think it’s really amazing, that system.”
“I think so too.”
I knew this was a game interface so I could understand it relatively easily, but Ijin didn’t.
Originally, I wasn’t going to talk about it because I wasn’t confident that I could make him understand, but I had no choice when I had to convince him of the process of paying off the debt.
The debt of 5 million Juran is money actually borrowed from several places. Some were borrowed from a famous bank, and some were borrowed from a certain family.
However, I didn’t have to go and pay the debt myself. I just had to pay the debt in the system, one juran or two juran, and the system would resolve the debt on its own.
“Is there no system anymore?”
In response to Ijin’s question, I called up the system.
[SYSTEM Tutorial completed!]
[SYSTEM | Settlement in progress… …!]
“Nothing special popped up.”
The word ‘tutorial’ was very ominous, but for now, I wanted to enjoy being debt-free.
“I’m really proud of you two. If the late Earl and his wife were here to see this….”
The butler and maid who had guarded this mansion since before I was born were wiping away tears of emotion.
Although we were not able to provide them with a proper salary, they were people who took care of us out of loyalty to the previous earl.
“Will, Lily. Thank you so much. If it weren’t for the two of you, I would never have come this far.”
“No, lady.”
I shook my head.
At first, I paid back small amounts of 1 juran and 5 juran, but after receiving help from the system in earnest, I started a small business.
In addition, by making full use of the information I knew thanks to having already played this game in my past life, I was able to successfully repay my debt and start a small business.
So now, in the name of the Count Sheikh’s family, a small but steady amount of money was coming in to somehow sustain a living. It seemed like I probably wouldn’t be hungry in the future.
“You are an adult this year, so you can officially take over the family line.”
“…… How can I do this when I have sister?”
I shook my head. I lived hard enough. Now that I have paid off all my debts,
I want to live a decent life growing grapes and drinking wine.
“Go do whatever you want.”
I have to live leisurely.
“Just don’t go into debt.”
“Sister…”
It would have been great if I could end the day on such a touching note.
That would have been really nice.
It would have been great if they had allowed me to enjoy being debt-free for just a year, or even a month, or even just a week.
Unfortunately, the world was not on my side.
This was because there was someone who had come to visit the Count Sheikh family, which was in disrepair because it was not managed properly.
The Count Sheik’s estate was ruined by a storm that had come for the first time in several years. That same Count’s mansion, which was said to be the shabbiest place in the Count’s territory, was visited by a man who was drenched in water.
I kept my mouth shut as I looked at the burly man with jet black hair and red eyes. The man was soaked with water, but he was full of elegance.
But unlike his shiny appearance, his clothes were not like that at all. He was wearing clothes made of high-quality fabric, but they looked worn out, so anyone could see that he was like a fallen nobleman.
It felt that way worse than when I got wet from the rain.
However, the gorgeous beauty was still present, even when the wet and the gloomy face was covering that beauty, it made it seem like there was a story behind it.
So, it was more ominous.
“… … Excuse me. This is Cassis Luwin. It suddenly rained, so I had to quickly knock on the door.”
He said, wiping the dripping water with his hand.
Cassis Lewin.
Grand Duke Luwin, owner of the Duchy of Luwin.
At that name, I cursed without realizing it.
Of course.
Because Cassis Luwin was the male protagonist of ‘Lady, Please Pay My Debt!’
The male protagonist has everything: power, wealth, and fame, but the only thing he doesn’t have is the female lead!
That kind of male lead appeared in front of me like a beggar.
Tilong-!

And at the same time, the system also gave me a new notification.
Translator’s Notes:
Why does the little brother sound so cute? The image of him cheering along his noona is so cute. Should I write Noona when he calls her or translate it to English as older sister? Also, how should I name him? Should I just call him Jin, leave it as Ijin or Lee Jin? 이 (yi) in korean is sometimes written as Lee when translated into romanised names, but it might look a little confusing since it seems like he has another surname? I thought Ijin might make sense since it’s close to his sister’s name.
